Petersham Town Hall, Municipal building in Inner West Sydney, Australia.
The Art Deco structure at 107 Crystal Street features a 453-square-meter main hall with a 94-square-meter stage and classical architectural elements.
Constructed between 1937 and 1938, this building replaced an earlier Victorian Renaissance Revival town hall designed by Thomas Rowe from 1880.
The hall gained recognition as a filming location for the dancing sequences in the 1992 film Strictly Ballroom, directed by Baz Luhrmann.
The venue accommodates 550 people standing, 400 in theatre configuration, or 250 for banquet settings, with access to commercial kitchen facilities.
The building served as the seat of two different municipal councils: Petersham Council until 1948 and Marrickville Council from 1948 to 1974.
