Hordern Pavilion, Australian entertainment venue
Hordern Pavilion is a sports venue and event space in Moore Park, Sydney, featuring classical architecture with columns and symmetrical shapes. The interior contains a large flexible hall with a domed ceiling, tiered seating on three sides, and open floor space for standing room or dance areas near the stage.
Built in 1924 by the Royal Agricultural Society of New South Wales, the pavilion originally served as an exhibition space for the Royal Easter Show. Over decades it transformed into a major venue for concerts, sports events, and large festivals across Sydney.
The name comes from a family connected to Sydney's history. Today the space serves as a gathering point for concerts, festivals, and community celebrations that shape the city's cultural life.
The venue is easily accessible by car with nearby parking or on foot from Central Station. The hall is fully air-conditioned and has multiple food outlets inside plus a licensed outdoor area, so visitors can get refreshments during events without leaving the site.
When it opened, the pavilion showcased modern technology like electric lights and wireless radio systems. Today the site sits within Centennial Parklands, a large natural area with walking paths, allowing visitors to relax in green spaces before or after attending events.
