Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Surry Hills

The Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church at 626 Bourke Street features Byzantine architecture with Inter-War Romanesque modifications added in 1931.

The church's foundation stones were laid on May 29, 1898, marking the anniversary of Constantinople's fall, with crosses and holy water placed within each stone.

This religious building initially served Orthodox congregants from Greek, Lebanese, and Russian backgrounds until 1914, when membership became restricted to those of Greek descent.

The structure stands as the first dedicated Greek Orthodox church constructed in Australia, receiving heritage status recognition on May 28, 2010.
