Brighton-Le-Sands, Coastal suburb in southern Sydney, Australia
Brighton-Le-Sands is a coastal suburb that stretches along Lady Robinsons Beach on the western side of Botany Bay. The area features sandy shores, open parks, and shops and eateries concentrated mainly along the Grand Parade.
The area was renamed from Seven Mile Beach to Lady Robinsons Beach in 1874, honoring the wife of Governor Sir Hercules Robinson. This change marked the beginning of a new identity for the coastal settlement.
The Grand Parade and Bay Street are lined with restaurants serving Greek, Italian, Thai, and Australian dishes. This culinary mix reflects how different communities have made this place their home.
Several bus routes connect the suburb to Rockdale railway station, offering regular transport to Sydney's center. Most shops and eateries sit near the beach and are easy to reach on foot.
Cook Park holds a Bicentennial Monument marking where the First Fleet arrived in Botany Bay in 1788. This memorial sits quietly along the beach, recording a turning point in Australian history.
