Stoneleigh, Darlinghurst, Victorian Regency residence in Darlinghurst, Australia.
The stone and rendered brick structure features a hipped corrugated steel roof, twelve-paned timber framed windows, and an arched colonnade with octagonal columns.
Richard Jones, chairman of the Commercial Banking Company of Sydney and founder of the Maitland Mercury newspaper, owned this residence from 1870 to 1892.
Stoneleigh exemplifies the architectural preferences of wealthy residents during the initial development phase of Darlinghurst in the mid-nineteenth century.
Located at 1 Darley Street, the building maintains its original Victorian cast iron palisade fence and stands as a protected heritage site since 1999.
The building incorporates an arched colonnade that extends around one side, supported by distinctive octagonal columns with specialized moulded caps and articulated quoins.
