Sydney Supreme Court House, Gothic Revival courthouse in City of Sydney, Australia
The Old Registry Office features sandstone blocks construction with a slate hipped roof and narrow grouped windows under projecting gable bays at Elizabeth Street corner.
Government Architect Alexander Dawson and James Barnet designed this Victorian Tudor style building, which was constructed between 1859 and 1862 as part of judicial development.
The building represents one of two remaining government structures built in Victorian Free Gothic style, marking a distinct period in Australian architectural development.
The Department of Justice of New South Wales maintains this heritage-listed courthouse, which underwent modifications including staircase additions in 1875 and 1886.
The structure incorporates banded chimneys and quoin detailing, maintaining its original character despite World War II bomb shelter installations and twentieth-century modifications.
