Banco Road Court, Heritage courthouse in Sydney, Australia
The Banco Road Court features Federation Free Classical architecture with detailed sandstone carvings surrounding the windows and primary entrances of the building.
Built between 1895 and 1896 under Walter Liberty Vernon's design, the court building became part of the State Heritage Register on April 2, 1999.
The court building represents a significant element of Sydney's legal institutions, forming part of the historic King Street Courts complex near St James Church.
The current Banco Court operates on level 13 of the Law Courts Building, constructed in 1977, hosting full court sessions and formal ceremonies.
The site previously contained Macquarie's first Georgian Public School before its transformation into the initial New South Wales Supreme Court building.
