Central Hotel, Stanthorpe

Central Hotel in Stanthorpe is a two-story brick building with a double-story verandah running across its frontage. It features decorative turrets and large windows that line both its Victoria Street and High Street sides.

The building was constructed between 1908 and 1909 as Sheahan's Hotel and was one of the largest structures in town at that time. It was built during the height of the regional tin mining period when the area was rapidly developing.

The hotel serves as a gathering place where people from town stop by to meet and talk. Visitors can notice a collection of glass bottles that has been passed along between different owners over the decades.

The hotel is located at 140 High Street and provides accommodation along with a drive-through bottle shop that was added in 1978. Visitors should be aware that as an early 1900s building, some areas may have steep stairs or narrow passages typical of that era.

The building retains original architectural elements from the early 1900s, including its distinctive parapet design that crowns the roofline.
