Allora Cemetery

Allora Cemetery is a burial ground with separate sections for different religious groups including Anglican, Catholic, Methodist, and Presbyterian congregations. The site displays historical headstones and monuments spanning different eras, along with modern lawn areas and a columbarium for contemporary burials.

The cemetery started operations in 1864 as a burial ground for the growing community. The oldest surviving headstone marks Charles Henry Bullock's burial in the Church of England section in 1867.

The burial ground holds graves from various religious communities that settled in the region since the 1800s. Walking through, you notice how the memorials reflect the different backgrounds of people who made this area their home.

The cemetery sits at the intersection of Allora Clifton Road and Elphinstone Road and is straightforward to navigate. The grounds are well organized with marked sections and a shelter building that offers shade during your visit.

The William Mitchner Shelter-shed was built between 1925 and 1926 and stands as a brick structure with arched openings. This rare addition to a cemetery shows how the community cared for visitors needing rest during their time here.
