Lakes Creek Hotel

Lakes Creek Hotel is a two-story timber building with twin faceted bays and a decorative gable on its western facade. The building contains twelve guest rooms accessible via an original red cedar staircase.

The building was constructed in 1895 by T Moir based on designs by Eaton and Bates, marking the third hotel to operate at this site. The structure reflects the construction methods and commercial importance of that era in the region.

The hotel served as a regular meeting place for workers from the nearby meatworks and travelers passing through the region. People gathered here to socialise and rest during their journeys.

The hotel is located on Lakes Creek Road in North Rockhampton and can be easily reached. As a heritage building, visitors should expect original features and limited modern amenities in line with its age.

The building was entered into the Queensland Heritage Register in 1992, recognising its importance as an example of regional architecture. This designation protects the original design and structural features for future preservation.
