Three Islands Group National Park, Nature reserve in Cook Shire, Australia.
Three Islands Group National Park is a protected nature reserve consisting of three islands located roughly 15 kilometers northeast of Cape Bedford in Queensland. The islands span 77 hectares and feature salt marshes and mangrove forests that define much of their landscape.
The Queensland Department of Environment and Science established this protected area in 2000 to preserve the region's natural wetland environments. This action marked an important step in safeguarding these sensitive island ecosystems.
The islands hold deep meaning for Indigenous Australian communities who have maintained connections to these coastal lands across countless generations. Walking through these spaces allows visitors to encounter a landscape that remains central to local cultural identity.
The Two Islands section is accessible from April through August for groups of up to 10 people. Overnight camping is allowed during this season with a maximum stay of 14 days.
The park contains vast salt marshes and mangrove systems that cover over a third of its total area. These ecosystems support specialized plants and animals adapted to brackish and saltwater conditions.
