Honolulu Stadium, Former multi-purpose stadium in Moiliili, United States
Honolulu Stadium was a wooden multi-purpose sports facility located at the intersection of King and Isenberg Streets in the Moiliili neighborhood. The facility featured a baseball field with shorter outfield dimensions than mainland stadiums, and could hold approximately twenty-five thousand spectators in its stands.
Built in 1926, the facility became Hawaii's primary sports venue for decades. Wooden structural elements eventually fell victim to termite damage, leading to its closure and demolition in 1976.
The venue served as a gathering place where local fans could watch top baseball talent perform and where the community came together for sporting events. It represented an important social hub for entertainment in Hawaii during much of the twentieth century.
The venue was conveniently situated at a major intersection and was easily accessible by public transportation. The facility's size made it suitable for both large events and more casual visits during quieter times.
The venue attracted top baseball talent from the mainland, including legendary players who traveled to perform before Hawaiian audiences. This connection brought national sports prominence to the islands during an era when professional baseball was reaching new audiences.
