Jefferson Park, Residential district in South Los Angeles, US.
Jefferson Park is a residential neighborhood in South Los Angeles featuring houses built in Craftsman and Spanish Colonial styles. The district spreads across roughly 50 blocks between Adams Boulevard and Exposition Boulevard.
The area grew from farmland in the early 1900s as streetcar lines provided connections to downtown Los Angeles. This transportation made the location attractive for residential development.
After 1948, successful African American and Creole families moved to the area and shaped its character. They opened shops, restaurants, and gathering places that continue to define daily life here.
Two Metro E Line stations and multiple bus routes connect the neighborhood to other parts of the city. These transportation options make it easy to reach downtown and nearby areas.
The neighborhood contains 14 Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monuments recognized by the city. Among them, the Jefferson Branch Library built in 1923 earned a place on the National Register of Historic Places.
