The Viper Room, Nightclub on Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, California, US
The Viper Room is a nightclub on Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, California, housed in a two-story building with a black facade. Inside, a performance hall occupies the upper area while the lower level contains a whiskey bar.
The building served as a grocery store from 1921 until the 1940s before becoming several different clubs. As a nightclub, it opened its doors in 1993 with the name Viper Room.
Musicians sometimes step onto the stage without announcement, and the crowd treats these nights as a gathering across different generations of rock music. The walls display photos and posters from past concerts, filling the room with memories of many performances.
The club opens daily from eight in the evening and offers live performances from different music genres. Arriving earlier often means finding a spot near the stage, while later hours bring fuller rooms.
Adam Duritz from Counting Crows worked as a bartender at this club during the mid-1990s even though his band was already known. He mixed drinks for guests while other musicians performed on stage.
