Mondrian Hotel, Boutique hotel in West Hollywood, United States.
The Mondrian Hotel stretches 12 floors across West Hollywood, combining clean lines with colored accents in guest rooms and public areas. The lobby connects large-scale art installations with an open layout that leads directly to the bar and restaurant section.
The opening took place in 1996 under designer Philippe Starck, who transformed the building following a minimalist concept. Since then, the property has shaped hospitality culture in the neighborhood through its connection of art and architecture.
The property takes its name from Dutch painter Piet Mondrian, whose geometric works influence the color scheme in public areas. Events on the rooftop regularly draw guests from the creative community who use the space as a meeting point.
Access is through Sunset Plaza, a short walk from the Sunset Strip, with numerous galleries and shops nearby. The rooftop terrace remains open during the day and offers seating with southern views over the city.
A white curtain surrounds the rooftop outdoor area and serves as privacy screening from neighboring high-rises. The rooftop pool is only 5 feet (1.5 meters) deep and was designed more as a design element than a swimming facility.
