Architect Leland A. Bryant designed the building in 1929 as a reinforced concrete luxury apartment hotel. The doors opened in 1931 to the first residents and guests during the growth of Hollywood in that era.
The Tower Bar and Restaurant occupy the former apartment of a resident who lived there in the late 1930s. A strict no-photography rule today protects the privacy of celebrity guests who favor the spot for quiet dinners.
The hotel sits centrally on the Sunset Strip, allowing walks to nearby shops and venues. Guests reach the rooftop pool by elevator and find fitness facilities inside the building.
