The Andalusia is a 1926 Spanish Colonial Revival apartment building at 1471-1475 Havenhurst Drive in Hollywood, designed by Arthur and Nina Zwebell around a landscaped interior courtyard. Its materials mix exposed and cantilevered wooden beams, carved wood, wrought iron, terracotta roof tiles, buff-colored stucco, cast concrete and brick.
Architects Arthur and Nina Zwebell created this residential building in 1926 during a time of rapid growth in Los Angeles. That period brought many new construction projects and urban expansion.
The building represents an architectural movement that shaped residential developments in California during the early twentieth century. This style influenced how many homes in the area were built and what they look like.
The building sits along Havenhurst Drive and is accessible from the street. Keep in mind that this is a private residential block that visitors can only view from the outside.
The same block of Havenhurst Drive holds two other National Register listings: the Colonial House at 1416 and the Ronda at 1400–1414, so three listed apartment buildings stand within sight of each other. The Andalusia is also Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument No. 435.
