Tongva Park, Urban park in Santa Monica, United States.
Tongva Park is a six-acre public space divided into four distinct sections: Observation Hill, Discovery Hill, Garden Hill, and Gathering Hill. The landscape features winding walking paths and carefully chosen native and drought-resistant plants throughout.
The site was formerly a parking lot that was transformed into a public park in 2013 dedicated to the Tongva people. This conversion honored the original inhabitants of the Los Angeles region.
The park honors the Tongva people, the indigenous inhabitants of the Los Angeles region, through native plantings and artistic installations that tell their story. Visitors encounter these cultural elements naturally as they walk through different sections.
The park is located on Ocean Avenue in Santa Monica and is open daily from early morning until late evening. Visitors will find restrooms, playground equipment, and free Wi-Fi available throughout.
The park uses shaped hills and braided pathways that create a sense of expanded space within a compact site. A water feature that operates during warm months provides cooling and play opportunities for visitors.
