Caroline Severance established the Friday Morning Club in 1891 with 87 women at the Hollenbeck Hotel reading room, making it California's largest women's club.
The venue became a central location for political discussions, artistic performances, and intellectual gatherings, hosting speakers like Eleanor Roosevelt and Dorothy Parker.
The building now operates as an events venue under a long-term lease to Hillsong Church Los Angeles, which conducts services and maintains offices.
The structure earned recognition on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984 for both its social influence and architectural excellence.
