Aztec Aquaplex, Swimming center at San Diego State University, United States
Aztec Aquaplex is a swimming facility on the San Diego State University campus with two large outdoor pools for different purposes. The Olympic-size pool serves lap swimmers while a separate recreational pool offers space for other water activities and instruction.
The facility opened in 2007 as a new aquatic center serving the university's athletic programs. It was built to serve as a home venue for the competitive swimming teams at the Division I level.
The Aztec Aquaplex is the home venue of the SDSU Aztecs women's swimming and diving team, which competes in NCAA Division I in the Pac-12 Conference, and of the women's water polo team, which plays in the Golden Coast Conference. Home meets and matches bring spectators to the west-campus site beside Tony Gwynn Stadium.
The facility is located on campus and can be accessed through the university grounds with adequate parking and amenities nearby. Visiting during scheduled events offers the best experience for watching competitive swimming and diving.
The site covers 125,000 square feet on the west side of campus, between Tony Gwynn Stadium, the SDSU Softball Stadium, the Aztec Tennis Center, three football practice fields and the SDSU Sports Deck. The complex holds three swimming pools, not two, plus a spa and a building with locker rooms and administrative offices.
