Orange County Great Park is a public park in Irvine, California, located on the former Marine Corps Air Station El Toro site. The area includes sports facilities, recreation zones, and agricultural sections across approximately 500 acres (200 hectares).
The land was part of Rancho Cañada de los Alisos from 1842 and served as the military airfield El Toro from 1943 until 1999. Conversion into a public park began in 2007.
The Palm Court Arts Complex houses exhibitions on aviation history and regional development. Visitors can explore traces of the former military use and local culture there.
The site offers space for sports and recreation throughout the day and is accessible to visitors of all ages. Wide paths and open areas make orientation easy across the park.
A tethered balloon lifts visitors approximately 500 feet (150 meters) above ground and offers views over Orange County. The site connects with a wildlife corridor that extends to Cleveland National Forest.
