Radiator Springs Racers, Racing simulator ride at Disney California Adventure, United States
Radiator Springs Racers is a racing ride attraction at Disney California Adventure theme park in California that guides guests through reconstructed film sets in six-seat vehicles. The cars accelerate up to 40 miles per hour (64 kilometers per hour) during the final race sequence.
The attraction opened in June 2012 as the centerpiece of a major expansion at Disney California Adventure. Construction costs at the time exceeded 200 million dollars.
The ride brings visitors into the animated film world and shows familiar figures like Lightning McQueen and Mater as life-sized replicas. Guests experience the typical Route 66 atmosphere from the story through reconstructed sets.
Visitors should book a FastPass or Lightning Lane reservation, as regular wait times on peak days often exceed two hours. The ride suits families but requires a minimum height.
Each race ends differently, as two vehicles compete side by side and a random system determines the winner. The track switches between different routes for each car during the race.
