Jardín Botánico de Huntington

Huntington Botanical Gardens is a large botanical garden in San Marino with more than 16 themed sections displaying tens of thousands of plant species. The property spreads across hundreds of acres and presents specialized plant collections in distinct garden zones.

This garden was established in 1903 by Henry E. Huntington on a ranch property and grew into one of the major botanical collections. The gardens took their current form through the systematic development of specialized garden areas over many decades.

Art installations are scattered throughout the grounds alongside plant collections from Japan, China, and Australia. Visitors can experience these different botanical traditions in one place.

The grounds are extensive and can take several hours to explore fully. It is best to wear comfortable shoes and allow time to experience the different garden areas at a leisurely pace.

The property houses rare orchids, cycads, and bonsai trees that are tended by researchers and botanists. These specialized collections support global conservation programs for endangered plant species.
