Paradise Valley, Residential town in Maricopa County, United States.
Paradise Valley is a residential community in Maricopa County between Camelback Mountain and the McDowell Mountains north of Scottsdale. The terrain covers about 16 square miles of desert landscape at roughly 1,340 feet (410 meters) elevation.
The Rio Verde Canal Company turned former grazing land into farmland during the 1880s. The community formalized its status through incorporation in the 20th century.
Three surveyors gave the area its name in 1889 because of its natural beauty. Today strict rules keep the residential character intact with just one house per acre.
Visitors find low buildings spread between natural vegetation and open mountain views. Many roads follow the curves of the terrain and often end in cul-de-sacs.
Mummy Mountain rises in the center of the community and shapes the local landscape. The peak looks like a reclining mummy when seen from certain angles.
