Old Tucson Studios, Film studio in Tucson Mountain Park, Arizona, US.
Old Tucson Studios is a film studio in Tucson Mountain Park, Arizona, that spreads across desert land with Western-style buildings, working sets, and performance spaces. The complex contains several street blocks with saloons, a sheriff's office, a hotel, and other reconstructed structures from the American West era.
The studio began in 1939 when Columbia Pictures built a replica town from the 1860s for the film Arizona. After a fire in 1995, the site was rebuilt with 16 new structures.
The place takes its name from its location west of the city and its role as a backdrop for stories set in the 19th-century American West. Visitors today still see the wooden storefronts and dusty streets that appeared in countless Western productions.
The grounds are open daily from 10 AM to 4 PM and offer access to restaurants, shops, stunt shows, and guided tours through the sets. The paths are mostly flat and easy to walk, though the desert sun can be intense in summer.
The Grand Palace Hotel and Saloon houses an opera house with 450 seats, built during the 1995 reconstruction. This theater is one of the largest indoor spaces on the entire site and is used for live performances.
