The Escuela Militar de Aviación Marco Fidel Suárez is a military training institution located in Cali that prepares officer aviators for the Colombian Air Force through academic programs and practical training in aircraft operations.
Established in 1920 following Law 126 sanctioned by President Marco Fidel Suárez, the school created aviation as the fifth branch of the Colombian army with support from a French military mission led by Colonel René Guichard.
The school trains cadets who progress over four years to the rank of second lieutenant, receiving in their final year the sword that symbolizes leadership and command within the air force, upholding values of discipline and patriotism.
Professional programs include Aeronautical Administration, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautical Military Sciences, with training on aircraft such as Cessna 172 Skyhawk, T-90 Calima and Beechcraft T-6 Texan II.
The institution hosts international cadets from countries including Guatemala, Panama, Dominican Republic and Honduras, plus exchange students from the Brazilian Air Force Academy and United States Air Force Academy to promote academic and military cooperation.
