Parque Simón Bolívar, Urban park in Itagüí, Colombia.
Parque Simón Bolívar spreads across multiple city blocks with walking paths, gardens, and sports facilities for recreation and community use. It connects to the surrounding neighborhood through entrances on all four sides and stands next to the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary.
Local residents gave land in the 1830s to create this public space, though several houses had to be torn down to make room. The place became a focal point for community life and received its name honoring a South American independence leader.
The center features a sculpture of Simón Bolívar donated by Diego Echavarría Misas, with three busts of important local figures placed throughout the grounds. These monuments shape how people experience and remember the place when they walk through.
Four main entrances provide access from Calle 51, Carrera 50, Calle 50, and Carrera 51, making it easy to reach from different directions. Nearby shops and banks make it a convenient stop during a day in the city.
The Church of Our Lady of the Rosary, the oldest religious building in the municipality, sits at the southeastern corner where the park meets the church grounds. Visitors often notice how the lively public space flows naturally into the quiet sanctuary next door.
