Colombian Aerospace Museum, Aviation museum in Tocancipá, Colombia
The Colombian Aerospace Museum is a collection of aircraft and aerospace equipment located north of Bogotá, with exhibition halls dedicated to military jets, civilian planes, and related technology. The facilities display the evolution of flight from early aircraft to modern designs across multiple buildings.
The museum was established in 1968 at Techo International Airport and relocated multiple times before finding a permanent home near Jaime Duque Park in the 2010s. These moves reflect how the importance of aviation history has grown for the country.
The museum displays aircraft that served in the Colombian military and early commercial airlines, telling the story of people who built aviation in the country. Visitors see machines that became part of the nation's history and understand how flight shaped the country's development.
The museum is located about 40 kilometers northeast of Bogotá and sits near Jaime Duque Park, making it easy to combine the visit with other activities in the area. Weekday visits tend to be less crowded than weekend trips.
The collection includes a Junkers W-34 float plane from 1929, one of the oldest aircraft still visible in the museum. This early seaplane demonstrates how aircraft design was completely different in the early decades of aviation.
