Liborina, Municipal administrative division in Antioquia Department, Colombia.
Liborina is a municipality in western Antioquia featuring varied terrain shaped by valleys and hills throughout the region. The Juan García stream flows through the area from northeast to southwest, creating a natural feature that crosses the landscape.
The municipality was established in 1833 and named after Colombian President Liborio Mejía. Indigenous groups known as the Nutabe and Tahamí had lived in the area before this official founding.
Bean farming traditions passed down through generations remain central to how residents connect with their land and each other. These agricultural practices shape daily life and create a strong local identity rooted in countryside work.
The municipality sits about 80 kilometers from Medellín and can be reached by road through Sopetrán. A network of roads connects the area to neighboring towns and allows movement through the region.
A special bean variety called "Liborino" is grown in the area and has become closely tied to the region's reputation. This particular strain defines much of what residents are known for producing locally.
