Parque de Diversiones Dr. Roberto Ortiz Brenes is an amusement park in La Uruca, San José, opened on 18 December 1981. Its grounds combine roller coasters such as Bumeran (2012) and Torbellino (2018) with three water coasters, Splash Caribe, Reventazón and Pacuare, plus themed areas like Pueblo Antiguo and Plaza Tío Conejo.
The park was established in 1981 to generate funds for a children's hospital. Since its founding, it has grown and added new attractions to serve more visitors and expand its entertainment options.
The park's motto, "healthy children help sick children", sums up its funding model: ticket and bracelet sales go to the Asociación Pro-Hospital Nacional de Niños and support the Hospital Nacional de Niños Dr. Carlos Sáenz Herrera. The Pueblo Antiguo area stages theatre and folk dances in replicas of late-19th and early-20th-century Costa Rican buildings, and Plaza Tío Conejo takes its characters from the Cuentos de mi tía Panchita.
Visitors get the most from their time by checking opening hours and arriving early to avoid longer waits at popular attractions. The park has restaurants, shops, and restrooms distributed throughout the different zones.
The Torbellino, a wild mouse roller coaster, arrived at the park in 2018 bringing a new type of thrill ride. This coaster stands out for its sharp turns that make passengers feel sudden sideways movements.
