The Post Building Central Office is a two-story structure in downtown San José featuring Renaissance Revival and eclectic design elements that stand out in the urban landscape. Corinthian pilasters and decorated arches frame the facade, creating a formal appearance that reflects its role as a significant administrative center.

Architect Lluís Llach designed this structure, which was completed in 1917 during a period when Costa Rica was modernizing its communication infrastructure. The building's construction marked an important moment in the nation's development of postal and telegraph services.

The building is home to the Museo Postal, Telegráfico y Filatélico Costarricense, which holds Costa Rica's postal, telegraph and philatelic collections. In 2017, for the building's centenary, Correos de Costa Rica issued a souvenir sheet showing the facade, enlarged details and a line drawing of the original plan.

The building sits in the downtown area and is easily accessible on foot from surrounding neighborhoods and transit hubs. Since it continues to function as the main post office, visitor access to the museum may vary depending on current operational schedules.

The building was declared a historic architectural heritage site by Costa Rica's Ministry of Culture on 14 October 1980. In 2017, for its centenary, Correos de Costa Rica issued a souvenir sheet showing the building, enlarged details and a line drawing of the original plan.
