Parque del Este, Urban park in San Rafael district, Costa Rica
Parque del Este spans 24 hectares of woodland area, positioning it as the third largest park in the Greater Metropolitan Area of San José.
The land transformed from a coffee reception center called Beneficio Escalante in the 1970s to a state urban park in the early 1980s.
The park features eight miniature houses where children engage in imaginative play, fostering community interaction and outdoor recreation.
Visitors can access multiple sports facilities including two basketball courts, two soccer fields, and numerous trails through mountainous terrain.
The park sits at 1350 meters above sea level, bordered by the Torres River basin, with terrain that incorporates both native and exotic tree species.
