Reino Aventura, Amusement park in Tlalpan, Mexico
Reino Aventura was an amusement park in Tlalpan within the boundaries of Tlalpan National Park in Mexico City. The facility covered 45 hectares (111 acres) with themed areas, rides and green spaces.
The park opened in March 1982 as the largest amusement park in Latin America at that time. Premier Parks purchased the facility in 1999 for 59 million dollars and transformed it into Six Flags Mexico.
The orca Keiko lived here from 1985 to 1996 and made the park a national symbol of entertainment in Mexico City. His pool and performances drew visitors from across the country who came to see the famous whale.
The facility underwent major renovations in 1992 that led to a temporary closure. After reopening, the complex was called El Nuevo Reino Aventura and offered modernized facilities for visitors.
The 40 million dollar investment after the Premier Parks acquisition brought new rides and technology to the facility. This transformation turned the regional park into an international brand under the Six Flags name.
