Reforma 222, Mixed-use architectural complex in Colonia Juárez, Mexico.
Reforma 222 is a modern architectural complex at the intersection of Reforma and Insurgentes avenues, featuring three distinct towers clad in glass. The development combines office spaces, residential apartments, and a covered shopping center within a unified design.
The project began in 2004 under architect Teodoro González de León, marking a shift toward contemporary high-rise architecture along Paseo de la Reforma. Its completion represented the arrival of a new generation of mixed-use towers in this central business district.
The shopping center inside serves as a gathering place where residents browse shops, eat meals, and socialize throughout the day. The mix of commerce and dining reflects how this location functions as part of daily city life for many people.
The complex is best approached on foot through the glass-enclosed entrances accessible from the surrounding streets. The shopping areas are generally well-lit and straightforward to navigate, with clear pathways connecting the different retail and dining zones.
The complex incorporates more than 50 seismic dampers and rests on over 70 steel piles that extend deep underground. These hidden safety features allow the building to remain stable during earthquakes, a critical requirement in Mexico City where seismic activity is common.
