Acozac, Archaeological site in Ixtapaluca, Mexico.
The Acozac archaeological complex contains multiple structures including a circular temple, rectangular platform, and palace with preserved red stucco walls.
The settlement flourished between 900 and 1521 CE, developing through multiple Aztec phases and maintaining continuous occupation until Spanish arrival.
The circular temple at the northern end stands as a dedication to Ehecatl, the wind deity, reflecting religious practices of pre-Hispanic civilizations.
Located at kilometer 30 of federal road México-Puebla, the site welcomes visitors Thursday through Sunday from 10:00 to 17:00 hours.
Visitors can observe the Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl volcanoes from the site, which sits within a forest setting at coordinates 19.32N, 98.89W.
