The Teatro de los Insurgentes stands on Insurgentes Avenue with a capacity of 959 seats and a large mosaic mural on its facade.
The theater, constructed in 1953 during President Miguel Alemán's urban renewal program, opened with a performance featuring the return of actor Cantinflas.
The facade displays Diego Rivera's monumental mosaic mural depicting the evolution of Mexican theater through historical characters and social themes.
The theater hosts major theatrical productions, with tickets available through Ticketmaster, and underwent restoration of its signature mural in 2005.
During the 1968 Olympics, the venue transformed into a weightlifting competition site, marked by a commemorative sculpture outside the building.
