Mexico City Metro Museum, Transportation museum in Insurgentes Mixcoac, Mexico
The Mexico City Metro Museum occupies seven permanent exhibition halls at the intersection of Avenida Revolucion and Extremadura, displaying metro system artifacts and information.
The museum opened in January 2017 to preserve the history of Mexico City's metro system, which started construction during the 1960s transportation modernization period.
The exhibition halls contain original architectural plans, photographs, archaeological discoveries from metro construction sites, and artworks from Mexican artists of the 20th century.
Visitors can explore the museum from Tuesday to Sunday between 10 AM and 6 PM, with extended hours during special events like Museum Night.
The sixth hall presents Lance Wyman's original designs for the metro's visual identity system, including the station logos and typography still used today.
