Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, Motorsport racing track in Magdalena Mixhuca, Mexico City, Mexico.
Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez is a motorsport racing track in Tlalpan, in the southeast of Mexico City, sitting at 2,238 meters elevation. The 4.3-kilometer layout combines long straights with tight corners and runs partly through a public park.
The racing track opened in 1959 and was originally named Magdalena Mixhuca before being renamed in 1972 after brothers Ricardo and Pedro Rodríguez. After several redesigns, Formula 1 returned in 2015.
Spectators gather in the Foro Sol during race weekends, where they experience music, fireworks and paddock atmosphere inside a converted baseball stadium. Mexican fans bring flags and jerseys, turning this zone into a large grandstand party.
Access is through the Autódromo metro station on Line 9, making a visit without a car easier. The high elevation can be noticeable during exertion, so walking slowly is advisable.
The Peraltada banked corner section was softened in the 1990s, but remnants of the original steep banking remain visible. The thin air at this elevation reduces engine power by roughly 15 percent compared to sea level.
