Reynosa, Border city in Tamaulipas, Mexico.
Reynosa is a border city in northeastern Tamaulipas, sitting roughly 33 meters above sea level within the municipality of the same name. The city spreads across a wide area along the Texas border, featuring residential neighborhoods, industrial zones, and several major avenues that run parallel to the river.
The settlement was founded in March 1749 by Carlos Cantú González as Villa de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe de Reynosa. Its current location was established in 1802 after the original site was moved.
The name traces back to the Spanish town of Reinosa, brought by missionaries who founded a church here. Today taco stands, norteño music from bars, and steady exchange with neighboring Texan towns shape daily life.
General Lucio Blanco International Airport offers connections to major Mexican cities, and several highways lead north across the border. Visitors navigating downtown find it easier to follow the broad main roads that structure the layout.
Many manufacturing plants from the United States produce here, using the border proximity for rapid supply chains. On some weekends the same radio station plays on both sides of the river, an acoustic reminder of how close the neighbors are.
