XLR-8, Steel roller coaster in Houston, United States

XLR-8 was a steel suspended coaster from Arrow Huss at Six Flags AstroWorld in Houston, opened May 12, 1984. It ran two seven-car trains, each car seating four riders in two rows of two, with shoulder restraints and a 1.07 m minimum height. The last four cars were reversed for Fright Fest 2002, when the ride was renamed 8-RLX.

This suspended coaster was built by Arrow Dynamics and began operating in 1984 at an amusement park. It ran for over twenty years before the park closed in 2005.

The ride's name was pronounced "accelerate". For Fright Fest 2002 the last four cars of each train were turned to run backward, and the ride was billed as 8-RLX; the arrangement stayed until the park closed. For the 2004 season the track was repainted blue and yellow, replacing the earlier blue and grey.

XLR-8 ran two trains of seven cars, each car seating four riders in two rows of two, with shoulder restraints and a minimum height of 1.07 m. The last four cars of each train were reversed from Fright Fest 2002 onward, so riders in those seats faced backward.

For Fright Fest 2002, AstroWorld reversed the last four cars of each seven-car train so they ran backward, and the ride was renamed 8-RLX. It was the first such setup on a suspended coaster, and the trains kept that arrangement until the park closed on October 30, 2005.
