XLR-8, Steel roller coaster in Houston, United States
The steel suspended coaster featured a track length of 3000 feet with two chain lift hills and reached a maximum height of 81 feet.
Arrow Dynamics manufactured this suspended roller coaster, which operated at Six Flags AstroWorld from May 12, 1984 until October 30, 2005.
The coaster received multiple paint schemes throughout its life, starting with light blue tracks and white supports before changing to dark blue and orange.
Each train contained seven cars arranged in two rows, accommodating 28 riders who needed to meet the minimum height requirement of 42 inches.
During the 2002 Fright Fest event, the last four cars were turned backward, creating a configuration never before seen on suspended roller coasters.
