Yucca Theatre

The Yucca Theatre is a downtown Midland theater designed in Assyrian style with large sandstone blocks, marble columns, and gilded bulls throughout its interior. The auditorium accommodates roughly 550 spectators and hosts Broadway performances and community events regularly.

Oilman Thomas S. Hogan initiated construction of this entertainment venue in 1927, opening it in 1929 as a movie and vaudeville house. The building was later registered as a Texas Historic Landmark and remains a significant reminder of 1920s entertainment culture.

The venue hosts the annual Summer Mummers production running from June through Labor Day, featuring locally written melodramas and musical variety shows. This event series has become an important part of the city's cultural life.
