Littlefield is a city in Lamb County, Texas, situated on the flat expanse of the Llano Estacado northwest of Lubbock. The community developed in a cotton-growing region and is connected to surrounding areas through U.S. Highway 385.
George Washington Littlefield founded the city in 1912 through his Littlefield Lands Company, selling property to settlers along a newly constructed railway line. The settlement grew as part of the railway expansion into West Texas.
The city honors country music performer Waylon Jennings with a dedicated boulevard and maintains the Lamb County Library, established in 1913.
The city has a small airport about 2 miles outside town limits that accommodates small aircraft. U.S. Highway 385 runs through the center, offering easy access to neighboring communities and larger cities.
