Founded in 1951 by the Texas Sports Writers Association, this institution became the first state sports hall of fame in the United States.
The facility maintains permanent exhibits featuring notable Texas athletes, including professional baseball players, football stars, basketball champions, and Olympic medalists.
The 35,000-square-foot complex includes the main exhibition hall, a banquet space, the Southwest Conference gallery, and the Texas Tennis Museum.
The selection committee, consisting of 21 sports journalists, reviews public nominations annually to determine new inductees through both Primary and Veterans ballots.
