Judge Perez Bridge, Vertical-lift bridge in Belle Chasse, Louisiana.

The Judge Perez Bridge spans the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway with two lanes for northbound traffic on Louisiana Highway 23, connecting Belle Chasse and Terrytown.

Construction of this $3.3 million structure began in March 1967, funded by Plaquemines Parish Royalty Road Fund, and opened for traffic on September 10, 1968.

The bridge received its name from Leander Perez, a significant political figure who influenced the development of transportation infrastructure in Plaquemines Parish.

The structure features a total length of 2,654 feet with a clearance of 100 feet when open and 40 feet when closed, allowing marine vessels passage.

This bridge operates in conjunction with the Belle Chasse Tunnel, which handles southbound traffic, creating a specialized two-way transportation system across the waterway.
