BREC Memorial Stadium is a sports venue with a grass field and capacity for about 21,500 spectators, situated on 20 acres near Interstate 110 in downtown Baton Rouge. The facility was designed for football and now hosts various athletic events and community gatherings throughout the year.
The stadium opened in 1952 as a memorial honoring military personnel who served from Baton Rouge during World War I, World War II, and the Korean War. Over time it became a major venue for high school championships and regional sporting events.
The Louisiana High School Athletic Association has maintained its presence at BREC Memorial Stadium since 1956, hosting numerous football championships and community events.
The venue enforces a clear bag policy for all events, allowing only transparent containers with dimensions up to 12 by 6 by 12 inches. The location offers convenient parking nearby and good access from major roadways.
During the 1960s and 1970s, the venue expanded beyond football to host water skiing competitions on its grounds. This unusual use demonstrated the location's flexibility as a multipurpose sporting destination.
