Carver Performing Arts Center, Performance venue in downtown Birmingham, US

The Carver Performing Arts Center is a theater on the corner of Fourth Avenue North and 17th Street North in downtown Birmingham. It opened in 1935 and was remodeled in 1990 for live performance; its single auditorium seats 527 and also houses the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame.

The Carver opened in 1935 at Fourth Avenue North and 17th Street North, in a district that was the business and entertainment hub of Birmingham's black community. A 1945 renovation added 1,300 seats, air conditioning and improved sound and projection. After the theater closed in the early 1980s, the City of Birmingham bought it in 1990 and remodeled it for live performance, partly to house the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame.

The Carver sits in the Fourth Avenue district, a business and entertainment hub for Birmingham's black community and a site of Civil Rights Movement events. Its name honours George Washington Carver. Since reopening it has hosted the Taste of 4th Avenue Jazz Festival and the annual AJHoF Student Jazz Festival.
