Artemisa Province

Artemisa Province covers 4,004 square kilometers of land between the Gulf of Mexico and the Batabanó Gulf, with elevations reaching 52 meters.

The province emerged on January 1, 2011, when the former Havana Province split into two separate administrative regions: Artemisa in the west and Mayabeque in the east.

Each municipality in Artemisa Province maintains local traditions through agricultural practices, including the cultivation of sugar cane, bananas, potatoes, and rice fields.

The territory contains eleven municipalities connected by an extensive road network, with the city of Artemisa serving as the provincial capital and administrative center.

The province houses Cuba's primary air force base and forms a strategic military defense point while incorporating educational institutions across multiple disciplines.
