Acuario Nacional de Cuba

The National Aquarium is a public aquarium and biorepository located along the Miramar waterfront that houses thousands of marine animals from several hundred species across distinct exhibition areas. The exhibits recreate coral reefs, mangrove environments, and submerged rock formations where the animals are displayed.

The facility was established in the early 1960s as one of the island's first marine conservation projects. Following a major hurricane in the late 1990s that caused significant damage, the site was rebuilt and expanded over the following years.

Families and school groups visit regularly to watch marine life up close and learn about ocean conservation in an informal setting. The place serves as a gathering spot where local people connect with the sea and its inhabitants throughout the year.
