Church of Jesus, Catholic church in Miramar district, Havana, Cuba
The Iglesia de Jesús de Miramar stands as the second largest church in Cuba, featuring Romanesque-Byzantine architectural elements on Fifth Avenue in Havana.
The construction of this religious edifice commenced in 1948 under architects Eugenio Cosculluela and Guido Sutter, reaching completion with its inauguration in 1953.
Spanish artist Cesareo Marciano Hombrados y de Onativia created fourteen extensive murals between 1952 and 1959, depicting 266 figures throughout the church interior.
The church maintains regular Catholic services and welcomes visitors to view its architectural features at Quinta Avenida, corner of 82nd Street in Miramar.
The church houses Cuba's largest pipe organ, containing 5000 pipes, including components from Spain and a Kilgen Theatre Organ from the former Cine Encanto.
