Artemisa Province, Administrative province in western Cuba.
Artemisa Province is a territory in western Cuba situated between the Gulf of Mexico and the Batabanó Gulf. The province contains eleven municipalities connected by an extensive road network, with the city of Artemisa serving as the administrative center.
The province was created on January 1, 2011, when the former Havana Province was divided into two administrative regions: Artemisa in the west and Mayabeque in the east. This restructuring reshaped the island's administrative divisions.
The municipalities here keep their traditions alive through farming, especially growing sugarcane, bananas, and rice that shape daily life. This agricultural identity connects people across generations and sets the rhythm of community life.
The province is easy to explore thanks to its well-developed road network connecting all municipalities. The best time to visit is during the dry season from November to April.
The area hosts Cuba's main air force base and various educational institutions across different fields. These facilities significantly shape the local infrastructure and economic activity.
